Keep your tree

It's coming down. It doesn't have to go.

A tree that's stood for decades deserves better than the chipper. When we fell it, we can mill the best of the timber for you to keep: a slice, a board, a bench, or a winter's worth of logs.

A slice of the trunk

A slice of the trunk

A round cut from the trunk, rings and all: a clock face, a side table top, or simply the year it came down, written on the back.

Boards for the kitchen

Boards for the kitchen

Thinner slices and offcuts sized for chopping and serving boards, ready for you or a maker to finish.

Slabs and planks

Slabs and planks

We mill the trunk into planks or a live-edge slab for a bench, shelf or table: made by you, or by a local maker of your choice.

Logs for the fire

Logs for the fire

The simplest keepsake: split and stacked, so the tree warms the house it shaded.

Good to know

Honest timber.

  • Not every tree mills well. Hardwoods like oak, ash, sycamore and cherry are ideal; diseased, rotten or very small trunks aren't. We'll tell you honestly when we assess the job.
  • Fresh timber needs to dry. Freshly milled wood moves and splits as it dries. Slices and boards are best left somewhere airy for a few months before finishing; thick slabs can take a year or more.
  • Priced with the job. Milling is quoted alongside the felling, so you'll know the cost up front.
  • Nothing wasted. Whatever you don't keep is milled for local makers, split for firewood or chipped for mulch.
