Ministry of Defence
RAF Brize Norton
When the Ministry of Defence required a professional arboricultural contractor for ongoing tree management at RAF Brize Norton, the UK's largest and busiest military air station, I Am Lumberjack was selected to deliver the contract.
For founder Jack, a former Royal Marine Commando, working on a MOD site felt entirely natural. The discipline, attention to safety protocols and ability to operate efficiently within a highly regulated, security-conscious environment are qualities that define both military service and our approach to arboricultural work.
Over the course of a 6-month contract, our team managed trees across the base: carrying out crown reductions, deadwood removal, hazard assessments and general maintenance work across the extensive grounds. Work was planned and executed to minimise disruption to the operational running of the base, with all personnel subject to site security clearance.
The contract required precise coordination, strict adherence to RAF site protocols and the ability to work safely in a complex, high-security environment. Every job was completed on schedule, to specification, and with the standard of professionalism the MOD expects from its contractors.
“Working with the MOD reinforced everything we bring to larger commercial contracts: structure, accountability, and getting the job done properly under pressure.”
Jack, Founder, I Am Lumberjack
This project demonstrates our capability to take on formal tendered contracts, operate within regulated environments, and deliver consistent results over extended periods: exactly the kind of commitment we bring to all our commercial and estate clients.
